I have been quite ill recently and have been going into hospital for testing and biopsies to see what the problem was, and my results came back as positive for anemia (iron deficiency) and for coeliac. I'll just quickly sum up both of for you..
- Iron deficiency anemia is when you lack iron in the blood, anemia is defined as the decrease in the amount of red blood cells you have or hemoglobin the blood. The symptoms include feeling tired, weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath. Normally you can take iron supplement tablets to help this but I cannot as I am also a coeliac and this will affect my stomach and health even more
- Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder or the small intestine, it's caused by a reaction to gluten protein found in wheat, barley, rye and other grains.
WARNING squeamish people skip this part!!
- The symptoms include diarrhoea, malabsorption, loss of appetite, cramping, bloating, and if untreated it can lead to certain cancers and other horrible and life threatening diseases
- Many people who have similar symptoms to these normally believe they have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), if you have problems like this however, I would strongly recommend seeing your doctor or getting a biopsy or screen test
So I have been trying to get used to a completely new diet and lifestyle, which takes a lot of adjusting to, as well as balancing school work and seeing my friends. But going through this has got me thinking about this blog and how I can expand it from just beauty and fashion - but into lifestyle as well..
I was thinking that I could post recipes that are suitable for coeliacs (and anemics if there are any recipes), and just advice about how to handle a new lifestyle and diet and my experience going through this all at a relatively young age. I quite like the idea of expanding this blog and making it even better.
